26/01/2022 - The Department of Environment was today recognised and awarded a certificate of merit by the World Customs Organization (WCO) for rendering exceptional service to the international Customs community at the borders. The award, which was presented to the Department on the occasion of the International Customs Day 2022, signifies yet another key milestone for the Department to be recognised globally for its selfless work towards protecting Fiji’s flora and fauna both locally and internationally. The Department of Environment is one of two Government agencies recognised and awarded this year.
While receiving the certificate this morning, Permanent Secretary for Environment, Joshua Wycliffe, emphasised the important role the Department of Environment plays with key border agencies like the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS) in addressing environmental crimes at our borders.
“We have one of the most successful working relationship with the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service. I would like to thank the CEO and his team for maintaining this successful working relationship with the Department of Environment”, Wycliffe said.
